The newest issue of the “Proceedings of the Institute for European Studies, Tallinn University of Technology, No. 6” titled “European Union: current political and economic issues” has come out of print finally. This is a peer-reviewed scientific journal with an international editorial and extensive international editorial board corresponding to the requirements of the category 1.2 of Estonian Research Information System (ETIS). The journal is issued by the Department of International Relations and beginning from 2009 the Proceedings of the Institute for European Studies appears twice a year. The editor-in-chief of the recent issue was the Head of the Chair of European studies Prof Aksel Kirch. The foreign member of editorial Prof Andras Inotai (the Institute of World Economy of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences) has written an extended foreword together with the edition-in-chief focusing on perspectives of overcoming current economic crisis. The lengthier opening article of the collection is written by one of the leading Estonian economist Ülo Ennuste and it is dedicated to economic problems in Estonia. In his article he emphasizes that the economic regulations should not be based on ruling incumbent political camps beliefs, pre-election myths and utopias. The economic mechanisms should not be adapted and changed with the change of ruling political camps, but these should be adapted, enhanced, complemented and their quality enhanced according to the real socio-economic, technological and ecological developments. The teaching staff of the Tallinn University of Technology is represented by Professor Aksel Kirch and Associate Professor David Ramiro Troitino, doctoral students by Mart Nutt, Olga Nezerenko, Archil Chochia and Mait Talts. The Foreign contributors to the current issue are Vladislav Volkov from Daugavpils University (Latvia) and Richard Caddell from Swansea University (UK).
