TSEBA – entrepreneurial school in Estonia
Tallinn University of Technology (TUT) is the largest University providing economic education on graduate and post-graduate levels in Estonia. Tallinn School of Economics and Business Administration (TSEBA) of TUT is one of Estonia’s most important institutions of higher education in economics and business administration being the second largest faculty of eight faculties in TUT. Tallinn University of Technology is a public university, founded in 1918. Tallinn School of Economics and Business Administration was founded in 1941. Today TUT is one of the largest public universities in Estonia with approximately 11,000 students and over 1,700 employees and TSEBA, which consists of 4 departments and 4 centres, is one of the leading schools In Estonia in respect of teaching quality. TSEBA offers study programmes at Bachelors’, Masters’ and Doctoral level, which all are based on the fully accredited curricula. The mission of TSEBA is to be a centre of education, research and development with international scope in the field of economics and business administration. Its objective is creation of academic competence together with engaging in international educational and scientific collaboration in Business Administration and other areas that relate modern technology with business. The educational programmes of TSEBA are designed to assure the graduates’ social and vocational competence corresponding to their educational level and to create prerequisites for fast and flexible orientation in prospective occupations. The programmes enable acquiring basic knowledge, on the one hand, and specialising in a particular narrower field in economics or business, on the other hand. Skilful management of information and knowledge as well as the implementation of economic theories and respective technologies in both the business and public sector play a crucial role in achieving optimal development. Research activity in TSEBA is an essential part in the day-to-day life undertaken within the research groups. Research at TSEBA is carried out in three main fields: (i) Economic Modelling and Convergence of Socio-Economic Systems; (ii) Entrepreneurship and Business Development; (iii) Innovation Policy and Management in the Knowledge-based Economy. TSEBA attracts today more and more foreign students, lecturers and professors. The number of exchange students has increased rapidly. Our lecturers are members of reputable professional organisations; TSEBA maintains a number of international research contacts and is involved in international research/educational projects in their respective subject area. TSEBA has been an active member of different educational networks (Nordplus, Nordplus Neighbour, Erasmus etc) and has organised several international events in field of external relations. Tallinn School of Economics and Business Administration is fully accredited by relevant national bodies and is a member of different associations (EFMD, CEEMAN). A student has a choice between three languages in TSEBA – Estonian, Russian and English language. The lectures of international study programmes are held in English, the Russian speaking students can study the first year in their mother tongue. Later they will study in Estonian. Tallinn School of Economic and Business Administration has an authoritative Alumni Association, which assists in the development of TSEBA and promotes our school. Vast majority of the leaders in Estonian business and economic sector today are graduates of TSEBA.
